Job 35
Does God care how we live our lives? Is God really impacted by our sins? Elihu doesn't believe so. He tells Job he has spoken like a fool regarding his lot in life. If Elihu is right then why did the Lord send His Son to save us from our own weaknesses? God has heard humanity and Jesus is the answer to that cry.

The phrase that keeps rolling through my head and heart is "Jesus didn't come to get you into heaven. He came to get heaven into you." That's why I'm so hopeful for the church. If a bunch of sinners get together and start loving each other and acting like saints (and by that I don't mean perfect, I mean forgiven), what could happen in our community and around the world?
ReplyDeleteLove would win. Hate would hold on until the end times. Then game over for hate. It's already happening.
David asked the question in the Psalms as to why God would notice us. We are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but one person can make a huge impact. Try it in your home or neighborhood.
Instead of waiting for God to get good and angry and do something about the world's problems, let's roll up our sleeves and give it a shot.
Come Lord Jesus. Fill us with your Spirit. Strengthen us to serve you.
Last night @ SS&S we split into 4 groups to build representations of what our church would look like. They were all different in size and design but the common thread was to worship and serve. We had 15 minutes in order to build our structure and draft a mission statement and they were very interesting and thoughtful. It makes you wonder what could be accomplished with a focused vision of outreach for our community.
ReplyDeleteYes I believe that God does care how we live our lives. He gave us his word and laws to follow. We make our choices about whether to read his word and follow those laws all by ourselves. I believe that God looks down on us and is pleased when he sees his children doing good in the world. When we worship, attend church, help out in the community and serve others it makes God happy. God is the one who gave us compassion, we should use it to help our brothers and sisters.
