Isaiah 20

Despite the history that humanity has been able to record, history does repeat itself!  Isaiah 20 is short, but there is a clear message.  Trusting in society and culture and believing that those things are a sign that God is behind you or even worse that those things are greater than God is a good way to bet caught with your pants down.  Do we trust in our culture more than Our God?

  1. I sure hope not! Our culture has proven time and again that it should not be trusted. The only sure thing in our lives is the love and help of God! I for one trust His word way more than our society.

  2. I like casual Fridays more than anyone, but naked...for three years? The prophets often act out parables as a way to communicate God's message, but isn't this going a little too far?

I met with our conference pastors yesterday and we talked about how money is our culture's god. Until we tame that god, will we ever be able to really serve God with the type of obedience we've talked about?

Our host pastor said, "I imagine that when Jesus comes back, he's going to set aside all of the 'controversial' topics we dwell on and say, 'I'd like to talk about money.'"

Can we have an open and honest conversation about money at Faith? As we are in the process of selling the Faith Center, I certainly hope so.
