Job 42
Job takes full responsibity for his words against God. He humbles himself before his Savior realizing that God's wisdom is without error. In his suffering Job has triumphed because in the end he turned it all over to his Savior. He was restored countless times over and in the end lived a complete and fruitful life. Trust in God always, He will never abandon us!

I've never been satisfied with the ending here. As far as wealth goes...sure. But his family was taken from him, and at the end he has a new family. He may love them, but one child cannot replace another. This not a "all's well that ends well" for me.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I love the fact that the daughters are named and the sons are not! Usually the Bible gives us the opposite. Nice to see the girls getting some recognition for once.
Restoration is so important. Righteousness is paramount. We need to rely on God to make things right. I could care less about the wealth that is returned to Job. What's really important is the right relationships between Job and God and Job and God's people. Lord, continue to restore us to you and each other. Amen.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelly, this ending is weak. After countles arguments, God just comes in and says "I am awesome" and Job says "I know" and God says "Ok, kablamo, you are rich again."
ReplyDeleteThen again, maybe thats all i need to know. Kinda like Mark said. God is awesome.
It may be a weak ending but isn't the point here that you can fight against God and his will for you but in the end God' will be done. We can't always get the happy ending, but Job did finally learn his lesson.
