Of all the figures in the story, I'm most intrigued by the continual mentioning of Bernice. Why is this woman singled out? Was she known in the region particularly? Is she going to play a role in the church? Is this someone the original readers would know? She says nothing, but the author keeps telling us that she's present with Agrippa. Hmmm....
On that note, she plays the same role that so many of us play in witnessing the gospel. We watch, we may agree or disagree, but we don't want to step out. We don't use our voice, we don't commit to any particular understanding. We try to play it safe in the background.
